Fire Alarm Systems

A fire alarm systems warns people when smoke, fire, carbon monoxide or other fire-related emergencies are detected. These alarms may be activated automatically from smoke detectors, and heat detectors or may also be activated via manual fire alarm activation devices such as manual call points or pull stations. Alarms can be either motorized bells or wall mountable sounders or horns. They can also be speaker strobes which sound an alarm, followed by a voice evacuation message which warns people inside the building not to use the elevators.

Install & Design

Our team at FASD will work with you to design and install a fire alarm system that suits your buildings needs. Our service contracts can be customized for your specific needs to include 24-hour support and discounted rates on labor and parts.

Types of Fire Alarm Systems

Conventional Systems

A conventional fire alarm system uses one or more circuits, connected to sensors wired in parallel. Each device is connected to the control panel with its own wire.  The main advantage of the conventional fire alarm system is that they are cost effective for the smaller facilities.

Addressable systems

An addressable fire alarm system is one in which all fire and smoke detection devices in a system are connected and communicate both with each other and a central control monitoring location. Through a shared panel the devices notify and direct you to the triggered device or devices. These systems are ideal for large buildings or multi-sites facilities.

Benefits of the addressable system include:

  • Accurate identification of where the problem started and where it may be spreading.
  • Reduces potential false alarms.
  • Each element of the system can be routinely monitored.

Monitoring systems

Monitored smoke detectors are connected to a 24/7 central station who can notify the authorities, of smoke, fires, and other events through a conventional panel. With fire alarm monitoring, business owners can be confident that even if a fire breaks out when their building is unoccupied, it will still be quickly reported to emergency services, saving potentially tens of thousands of dollars in property damage.

Networking Systems

In a networked system, control panels communicate with one another, allowing individual panels to maintain control of their own points while also monitoring points physically connected to other panels. This allows you to view the entire system from a central location, which can be helpful in various situations. This system is ideal for large facilities.

Mass Notification Systems

Mass notifications deliver audible, visual , or text notifications to a large number of people in the event of a fire and non-fire emergencies.

Wireless Systems

One of the newest systems available we offer is a wireless system. This system detects fires, just like a wired system, while providing flexible installation, without the need for wires. Some devices that are supported on this sytem include:

  • Photoelectric
  • Photo/Thermal
  • Fixed heat rate-of-rise heat detectors.
  • Pull Stations

This systems also allows for wired and wireless devices to be installed on the same panel, allowing for increases installation potential.
